1948 Masudaya, Speed G Men Car (Ford Streamliner) in Original Box
A beautiful kaleidoscopic combination of soft pastel colors distinguishes this friction drive, tin litho Speed G Men Car from anything I've seen before. This magnificent vehicle, complete with its original illustrated box is old store stock from Harrisburg, PA. Never played with and only just recently removed from the box for the first time. Patterned after a Ford Streamliner Coupe the Speed G Men Car (not G Man) is one of the finest quality, early post-war Japanese built tin litho vehicles of its size. Measuring only 5" long it has a two-tone pale yellow and blue-green body. This contrasts beautifully with its metallic turquoise tin wheels and undercarriage. The emergency roof siren is bright pink with orange lights and silver speaker grille. The jet black, hood mounted machine gun is two pieces. The base is tin and the gun barrel is celluloid. It's not a sparking vehicle. Finally it's loaded with mirrored chrome plated accessories including the side molding, embossed rear wheel covers, front and rear bumper assemblies, split front windshield frame and hood ornament. The front tires are pressed tin disks. The box has a terrific illustration of the front corner of the car drawn in perspective with a uniformed passenger. City buildings in the background follow the same perspective angle. The side panels show the entire car in two tone with speed lines in the rear and sound bolts in the front. Size: 5" x 2".
